PERIHELION BOWL ARCHIVE // SECTOR 01 ARCHITECTURAL DOSSIER

The Perihelion Bowl & Orbital Arena Lore

Volcanic Basalt Amphitheatres, Tempered Glass Backboards & Cometary Court Physics

Suspended four hundred feet above a rain-swept British coastal metropolis, the Perihelion Bowl is a linked circuit of nocturnal rooftop courts, cantilevered glass-backboard arenas and sunken turf pitches. Directly overhead, a Halley-class comet crosses the indigo stratosphere on a long elliptical pass, trailing twin plumes of molten tangerine plasma and ionized cyan dust that turn every night fixture into an illuminated high-altitude broadcast.

STRUCTURAL SPEC 01 // AMPHITHEATRE BEDROCK

Volcanic Basalt Tiers & Wet Obsidian-Maple Courts

The outer bowl is carved from interlocking tiers of dark volcanic basalt engineered to withstand Atlantic gales and coastal squalls. Inside the seating ring, the playing floor is laid in alternating planks of kiln-curedrock maple and honed obsidian slate. Heated sub-floor conduits prevent standing water while leaving a thin, mirror-like film of coastal rain across the surface—reflecting the overhead comet tails and stadium floodlights without compromising footwear traction on hard crossovers.

  • Elevation: 128 metres above harbour datum, cantilevered over the Old Dockyard sea-wall.
  • Court Markings: Inlaid fibre-optic cyan and tangerine channels sealed beneath flush tempered silica.
  • Drainage Perimeter: Slotted gunmetal storm grates bordering the baseline and sideline aprons.

STRUCTURAL SPEC 02 // STANCHIONS & GOAL HARDWARE

Cantilevered Tempered Glass & Braided Tungsten Nets

At either end of the main court, brushed gunmetal booms project out over the rooftop drop-off, holding 30-millimetre laminated borosilicate backboards clear of the baseline. Instead of cotton cord that frays in salt wind and high-temperature slams, every breakaway rim is strung with twelve-loop braided tungsten-steel chain nets. When a shot drops cleanly through the iron, the chains ring out with a sharp, metallic chime that carries across the surrounding rooftops.

STRUCTURAL SPEC 03 // COMETARY TRAJECTORY GEOMETRY

The Aphelion Three-Point Arc & Stratospheric Light

Rather than a standard semicircular perimeter, the Perihelion Bowl marks an elliptical outer boundary known as the Aphelion Arc. Drawn to match the overhead comet's orbital eccentricity, the line stretches deeper at the forty-five-degree wings and tightens at the corners. As the comet reaches perihelion above the coast, its twin plasma tails cast dual shadows across the key—one cool cyan, one warm amber—giving shooters a natural visual sightline for high-arcing jumpers.

  • Wing Radius: 7.45 metres along the primary cometary vector.
  • Corner Clearance: 6.70 metres above the cantilevered baseline abyss.
  • Illumination: 2,400-lux twin-tower LED banks balanced against stratospheric plasma glow.

STRUCTURAL SPEC 04 // THE CONCOURSE ANNEXES

Sunken Pitches, Table-Tennis Decks & Front-Office Suites

Beneath the main basketball amphitheatre, steel catwalks connect the five specialized annexes of the Fast-Break Concourse: walled titanium-disc rinks, nitro-boosted vehicular pitches, sheltered rooftop table-tennis decks and floodlit five-a-side and gridiron turf. Overlooking the northern stanchion sits the glass-walled Observatory Deck, where tactical analysts chart shot-clock telemetry and multi-season roster projections.

Captains of the Perihelion Circuit

SECTION 02 // DUAL ATHLETE SCOUTING DOSSIERS

Every night session at the Perihelion Bowl is anchored by two signature athletes whose contrasting styles define the circuit: perimeter sky-walker Kometor Vane and high-post playmaking general Hoopara Korr.

DOSSIER 01 // PERIMETER SHARPSHOOTER & SLASHER

Kometor Vane

Solar-Tail Caracal · Point-Forward · Jersey #07

Built for verticality and sudden changes of direction on wet obsidian-maple floors, Kometor Vane operates from the deep Aphelion wing. His tufted black caracal ears track crosswinds swirling over the stadium parapet before he rises for a step-back jumper, while his long, plasma-tipped tail acts as a mid-air counterweight and gyroscope. Once airborne, a whip of his tail allows him to shift his centre of gravity after take-off—ducking beneath a shot-blocker's outstretched arm to finish a tomahawk slam through the tungsten chains.

Court Role
Primary Wing Scorer & Weak-Side Lob Finisher
Signature Move
Perihelion Hang-Time Reverse & Gyroscopic Step-Back Three
Preferred Territory
1v1 Half-Court Duels & Fast-Break Transition Lanes

DOSSIER 02 // PLAYMAKING CENTRE & TACTICAL ANCHOR

Hoopara Korr

Meteoric Ibex · Court-Anchor · Jersey #44

Commanding the paint and the rooftop Observatory Deck alike, Hoopara Korr is the tactical fulcrum of the Perihelion Bowl. Her sweeping, ridged horns of translucent amber glass catch the floodlight glare and register subtle barometric shifts and backboard vibrations the instant a shot leaves a shooter's fingertips. Before the ball even strikes the rim, she has already sealed her defender out of the key, secured the defensive rebound with one hand and fired a seventy-foot overhead outlet pass on a pinpoint orbital arc.

Court Role
Defensive Rim Protector, Rebounder & High-Post Quarterback
Signature Move
Full-Court Ionized Outlet & Glass-Pin Block
Preferred Territory
2v2 Co-op Paint Control & Franchise Analytics Suite

ORBITAL SYNERGY // THE SIGNATURE PLAY OF THE BOWL

The Perihelion Alley-Oop Partnership

The defining play of HoopComet's rooftop circuit begins in the defensive paint and ends above the cantilevered glass square. When an opponent's jumper clangs off the iron, Hoopara Korr reads the carom angle through her grooved amber horns, snatches the board at its apex and pivots before her hooves touch the wet slate. Without needing a vocal call, Kometor Vane is already sprinting the left sideline apron.

Hoopara releases a high-velocity, two-handed overhead lob that climbs into the floodlight beams, tracing the exact curve of the comet overhead. Kometor leaves the floor a step inside the Aphelion arc, uses his glowing tail to stall in mid-air as the ball crests, and hammers it home through the braided tungsten chains.
